QuickBooks 2006

QuickBooks 2006 is now available and is being touted as "simplifying key business tasks, providing better inventory management and accounting controls, and being faster for mid-market businesses".

  • The 2006 version organizes all important customer, vendor and employee information into a single page for each. Tasks and information that belong together are grouped together-making it easier for users to find and act upon.
  • Unlike most software, QuickBooks 2006 provides a customized one-click Home Page that includes only the activities that are important to YOUR business. This makes the workflow easier to understand and automates more of the work in less time.
  • QuickBooks 2006 will add new capability for three types of businesses: mid-sized firms, product-based businesses and accountants.
  • Enterprise Solution 2006 offers powerful new inventory capabilities. "Available-to-Promise" reports the exact amount of inventory on hand, where it is committed, when it is needed and when more will arrive

NOTE: QuickBooks Basic will no longer be available as of the 2006 upgrade.

Intuit Advisory Council

Jim Parker has been selected to be a Participant on the Accountant and Advisor Customer Council for Intuit Inc., for 2005-2006.

Building on the significant contribution of Intuit's previous product-focused customer advisory councils, the 17 member panel, comprised of participants from all over the United States, will serve as the voice of the accounting industry to Intuit. The group will meet periodically to obtain input from industry colleagues, serve as a sounding board to Intuit executives, and provide input to the company in developing future strategies, products and services. "Accountants are a great source of information to us. They've made some significant and valuable contributions. That is why we are developing a centralized advisory council. It provides a venue to share their insights with one another and with Intuit", said Rich Walker, director of Intuit account and advisor relations.

Year End Tasks

As the year-end approaches, the following items need to be considered:
Order your year-end forms (W-2's, W4's, 1099's, etc.). If you plan ahead, most forms can be obtained via the IRS website.
Review your financial statements with your Accountant for year-end planning and to insure that items such as accumulated depreciation, loan balances,, Owner's Equity, etc. are correct.
Only close the year AFTER all year-end adjustments have been made, and make sure to use the closing password so that changes cannot be made to 2005 after it is closed. Make a year-end back up!
