QuickBooks 2008 is here!
If you are using QuickBooks 2005 or older, you need to upgrade! There were major changes made to the software in 2006 and 2007. Below are some enhancements for the 2008 version:
- You can e-mail invoices directly from QuickBooks via Outlook or Outlook Express.
- Your accountant can work more completely in your QuickBooks while you continue to work.
- There’s a new Premier 3 User edition.
- Billable hours can be tracked directly from Microsoft Outlook with the improved Time Tracker. Time Tracker for Microsoft Outlook transfers time from existing Outlook calendar appointments to your QuickBooks. Designate meetings, e-mails and appointments in your Outlook calendar for billing, and seamlessly submit them to Time Tracker. You can also edit client, service, and duration information before submitting.
- Import customer, vendor and item data more easily using the new Microsoft Excel import template. You can assign each column in your existing Excel spreadsheet to a corresponding QuickBooks column. Save these settings to use again the next time you want to pull in data. You can even preview your data before you transfer it.
- Map and get directions to your customers and vendors. If your addresses are correct in QuickBooks, you can click on a vendor or customer name, and the option to get a map or directions comes up.
ENTERPRISE SOLUTIONS 8.0 features include:
- Advanced Inventory Management from Velocity Inventory to help with multi-location inventories.
- EDI integration with TrueCommerce EDI.
- The ability to run your database server on Linux.
- Improved Outlook integration to send customer invoices, sales receipts and other forms, saving you time.
Synchronizing QuickBooks with Outlook
If you have QuickBooks 2005-2008 (installed and registered), and Microsoft Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003 or 2007 and Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows Vista, go to the following website to obtain the latest Microsoft updates:http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate/default.aspx
Then go to the following website to obtain the QuickBooks Contact Cync for Outlook tool: http://www.quickbooks.com/contact_sync
Utilizing the Outlook tool with your QuickBooks will enable you to have all your clients and/or vendors transferred from Outlook directly into QuickBooks and vice versa.
The wizard will guide you through a short and straight forward set-up process. It allows you to tailor what field mappings you need for your business. This shortcut should reduce the need for data to be duplicated and re-entered.
Next go to Time Tracker and download Time Tracker for Microsoft Outlook. Once you complete the tutorial, the icons will be available to use. You can create a new time entry within Outlook and submit the time through the Time Tracker website.
