QuickBooks 2012 comes out the beginning of October and soon, QuickBooks 2009 will no longer be supported by Intuit. Therefore, if you are using 2009 or older, you need to consider upgrading to 2012.
QuickBooks Pro and Premier offer:
Calendar View—to organize your appointments, to do’s, invoicing and paying bills.
Excel Integration Refresh—saves formatting when you export to Excel, so re-running reports is less work.
Contributed Reports— a feature that allows you to view over 1,000 industry-specific templates contributed by users. Lead Center allows tracking of prospective customers in a separate area. When a sales lead becomes a customer, one click allows the conversion to the Customer Center.
Document Center—a free repository to store and manage documents such as contracts, proposals, receipts, etc. Users can import documents by dragging and dropping them into the Document Center.
Inventory Center (QB Premier) - centralizes inventory data in a control panel for easy access and management.
Batch Timesheets—small businesses with multiple employees or vendors who work the same hours, can save time on payroll by creating their timesheets all at once.
Batch Invoicing—(QB Premier), users who invoice multiple customers for time and expenses can create their invoices all at once.
Enterprise Solutions 12 has made major changes, primarily in the area of inventory: FIFO inventory, enhanced inventory receiving, automatic price mark up, images in the product list, increased capacity in the price level list from 100 to 750, Find and Select in sales forms, physical inventory worksheet filter by site, etc.
With Windows 7 out, and an announcement that Windows 8 will be out probably during 2012, it is important that your version of QuickBooks stays current too.
QuickBooks Desktop has many “hooks” with Microsoft products. For example:
- Microsoft Word integration in the Invoice Letters feature.
- Microsoft Excel integration for importing and exporting list information and report data.
- Microsoft Outlook integration for emailing invoices (etc.).
- Microsoft Internet Explorer integration for interaction with web based features such as Intuit Payment Network, Intuit Payment Solutions, and many other features
